2015 Mom 2.0 Summit Recap

I went to the Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona this year and here is a full recap of the summit and all the fun in between! Initially I was a little hesitant to the Mom 2.0 summit, because I am not a mom and don’t get me wrong, the mom focus is a big part of this conference, but there’s so much more to it! I met some incredible women and was definitely equally as inspired by the keynotes as I was by the woman sitting next to me!

Arrival day

When arriving at the resort, we checked out the digs, got registered and got some pretty cool swag bags. Dove was the main sponsor and of course gave us lots of goodies! The funniest gift though, was the one and only selfie stick! I had just had a conversation with my main squeeze before I left, that I was never going to get one! Ha! Serves me right I guess. First thing I pulled out of the gift basket in our room was the selfie stick! I haven’t used it yet, but somehow I will admit, that it has it’s benefits for a good angle :) Selfie Stick from the 2015 Mom 2.0 summit goodiebagLater that night it was time for the “Rise of the Phoenix Opening Party”. The theme was orange and everybody was supposed to wear orange. I kind of panicked in advance, because I don’t usually wear orange and therefore I don’t own any! Lucky for me, I got to borrow a sample from the closet! The dress is Stitch Fix and probably looks a lot better on the model anyways! :) Stitch Fix Orange DressThe party was out on the lawn and had a beautiful setup with string lights and fire pits! Mom 2.0 Summit Rise of the Phoenix Opening Party- Repolished.comI was a little nervous this being my first mom 2.0 summit and not really sure how this all went down, but I warmed up pretty quick. It was so fun to realize that so many familiar faces were there! I had a great time meeting up with friends, enjoying amazing food and wine, dance and just have fun!

Day 2

The next morning I walked up to breakfast thinking it would be your average hotel conference situation, but oh no. The Phoenician took it to another level! Breakfast outside, on the lawn! Breakfast at the 2015 Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale ArizonaDelicious breakfast at Mom 2.0 Summit, Scottsdale

There were so many great Keynotes and sessions throughout the conference, but the main theme was telling your story and how to do it with your point of view. Everything was kicked off with Molly Ringwald and the cutest notebooks from DoveMolly Ringwald at Mom 2.0 Summit 2015 Notebook from Dove at the Mom 2.0 SummitOne that really stuck with me was Heather Armstrong‘s keynote about the courage of compassion and how the “haters” are the ones that needs it the most. Whenever you tell your story, someone is going to disagree or have an opinion about it. Opinions are good in terms of inspiring conversation, but sometimes people are mean just to be mean. My mom would always say that anyone who picks on you, only do so because they don’t want anyone to pick at them or see their own flaws. It’s like the famous saying, attack is the best defense. I definitely don’t agree with that tactic, but sometimes it helps me understand why some people say or act the way they do.Heather Armstrong's (Dooce) at Mom 2.0 Summit 2015- Courage of Compassion - I was also impressed by Cindy Mccain and how she told her story of being a mom to a son sent to war in Afghanistan. I haven’t seen her as much in the media before and let me just tell you, she is an amazing storyteller! And last, but not least Bunmi, founder of and writer of the blog and book The Honest Toddler. This lady is funny with a capital F! She was joking about starting stand-up comedy and I really hope she does! I would buy tickets in a heartbeat!Cindy Mccain's Keynote at Mom 2.0 Summit 2015The Honest Toddler at Mom 2.0 Summit 2015

After a long day of keynotes, walking around in the Marketplace, meeting people, talking to people, doing some more talking and just a little bit more talking, we were ready for the garden happy hour to do just a little bit more talking! :)

There were a lot of different booths at the happy hour, but one of the most interesting ones was surprisingly this natural turkey stand. They had a huge mural up with color coded zones for everyone to participate in painting this beautiful picture, #smallactbigpicture. I am all for more natural food and the more organic, the better!

They even had these cute little makeup bags with a flower print on it and fabric markers so I could make my own version of it!DIY Fabric Marker Makeup BagHappy Hour at the Mom 2.0 Summit

Day 3

The last day started off with a bang! Or with a “run” that is! Best Buy hosted a morning 5K run and the first 40-50 people there got a brand new Withings Pop Fitness tracker! I have used it for a couple of weeks now and it’s pretty cool! It looks like and works like a normal watch and then you connect it with the add for lots of added insights. I’ll do a full review when I have used it some more.  Withings Activite Pop Swag at the Mom 2.0 SummitCamelback Mountain next to Phoenician resort and golf course

After breakfast it was time for more sessions and throughout the day you had to choose between a few different ones at the same time. I wanted to attend them all so I tried to run back and forth a little bit, not that it worked out that well though! I really liked the one on going beyond blogging on Pinterest and Instagram. Lot's of learnings at the Mom 2.0 Summit! And what comes after some learning? Pampering! Dove had partnered up with Drybar to setup a little pampering station and it was so nice to get a little touch up on my hair!Dove and Drybar's awesome Pampering station at Mom 2.0

A little peek into some of my outfits during the summit! Lace overlay top from my last Stitch Fix paired with white jeans and a hanging statement necklace!  My Mom 2.0 Summit outfit of the day

Look who I ran into at the Iris AwardsThe Iris Award is the Mom 2.0’s own version of the Golden Globe Awards, except it’s for bloggers.

Look who showed up as the host? Andrew McCarthy from Pretty in Pink! And with that, the audience lost their sh*t! :) Besides the fame and glory, It was really impressive to see so many inspiring women gathered in one room and how they all honored each other and their accomplishments! Andre McCarthy showed up at the Mom 2.0 Summit Iris AwardsAnd with that, I bought my ticket for next year already!

Are you coming?

Travel: Phoenician Luxury Resort in Scottsdale Arizona

Coming to the Phoenician luxury resort in Scottsdale, Arizona is like coming to paradise! I just went there last week for the Mom 2.0 Summit and let me tell you, this place is amazing! A true luxury resort with beautiful pools, cactuses everywhere, a PGA approved golf course, Camelback mountain right next door, family friendly, delicious food and the friendliest staff! Phoenician Luxury Resort Scottsdale Arizona - Gardens-

I actually didn’t take any pictures of the rooms, but they are great! I shared a room with my friend that had two queen beds and we stayed down in the bungalow part. The rooms are at a decent size and has a balcony with lounge chairs. The bathrooms are huge and includes a walk-in shower! You can actually dance and lounge around in there on a bench if you want to :)

I don’t know if I counted the number of pools, but there are at least 5 including the hot tub! They are all on different levels and have a different vibe to them. Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale Arizona Pool Area- Repolished.comI spent most of my time up at one of the main pools and it was great! All the lounge chairs have soft cushions and a towel that goes over the actual chair, which means no sliding! Yay! The pool staff is super friendly and will bring you towels and iced water pitchers as soon as you sit down. I was very excited about the water pitchers, because I am not used to the 100 degree weather and was probably dehydrated as soon as I stepped off the plane!Phoenician Resort Scottsdale Arizona -Pool Area- Phoenician Resort Scottsdale Arizona -Pool Area- Repolished.comThere is also a super fun kid zone that’s not actually a pool, but a wet playground in a way. It has sprinklers and buckets of water coming down. From what I saw they have staff watching the play area when kids are there.Phoenician Luxury Resort Scottsdale Arizona - Kid Pool Zone-

Restaurants and Food

We had most of our meals included in the conference, but it was all made at the resort and really good! Food at the Mom 2.0 Summit at the Phoenician resortI just love it when they have lots of fresh fruit with breakfast and who can beat a breakfast outside!Breakfast at the 2015 Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale ArizonaBreakfast at the 2015 Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale Arizona We had dinner at the hotel restaurant one of the nights and I had a pasta Carbonara, which was delicious! We had some kind of apple pastry for dessert and that wasn’t as successful, but I am known to be picky with my pastries so who knows. The pancakes the next morning however, THE best pancakes I have ever had! Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside and just the right amount of sweetness! Yum! Breakfast at the 2015 Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale Arizona

Golf Course and Hiking Trail

The resort is surrounded by a beautiful golf course on one side and Camelback mountain on the other! Camelback Mountain next to Phoenician resort and golf courseThey have a cactus garden as well, but I just found out as we were leaving so I didn’t see it. I did however go on a 5K around the golf course and saw cactuses in all shapes and sizes along the way. We don’t really have that here in San Francisco so it was cool to see some up close! I really wanted to hike Camelback mountain, but I think you would have to either do it really early in the morning or in a different season. I was planning on going Saturday morning, but by 8 am it was already too hot. Cactus in Scottsdale Arizona at the Phoenician Luxury ResortCactus Garden at Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale- Repolished Cactus Garden at Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale- Repolished Cactus Garden at Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale- Repolished Hiking Trail around the golf course at the Phoenician ResortHiking Trail around the golf course at the Phoenician Resort Phoenician-Luxury-Resort-Scottsdale-Arizona00011What’s one of your favorite hotels or resorts?
