Right around new years, #2015bestnine was trending on Instagram and everyone posted their most liked moments of 2015. This got me thinking about the year that had just passed. Not in terms of Instagram likes, but of what I had liked the most throughout the year, in real life. Continue reading
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? San Francisco has been really warm lately, which is weird and nice all at the same time. Last weekend it was in the high eighty’s in the city and by noon my apartment is like a sauna! We have windows all along one side of the apartment and the sun shines on from early morning until late night. I decided to head straight for the beach!
Ocean Beach Adventure
It’s quite the trek out there with the 30-40 min train, but with some tunes on my Spotify and knowing what’s at the end, it was worth it. At Ocean Beach you can take the muni all the way out and it stops right across the street from the beach. Just hop off and you can feel the fresh ocean breeze. I love being by the water. The ocean smell, warm sand, the smell of sunscreen, happy people all around and to top it off, hopefully a cooler full of delicious food and drinks! Continue reading
I am on my way to New York for BlogHer 15 as we “speak”! I’ll do a full recap when I get back, but if you want to follow along during the conference, I’ll be posting on Instagram and Twitter. I did a full review on the Mom 2.0 Summit here. BlogHer 14′ was my first blogger conference and I had so much fun! Meeting up with so many online friends as well as finding new ones was amazing. That’s also where I met Arianna Huffington, which led to me writing for The Huffington Post! Continue reading
I hope you had an awesome 4th of July weekend! We just stayed in San Francisco and I had a few friends visiting from Norway! It’s so weird to stay back in the city when there is a holiday, because everyone else is gone!
But first, let me do a quick update on something fun from last weekend because I went down to see the San Jose Eartquakes play against LA at the Stanford Stadium. After the game we were allowed down on the field to see the Fireworks! I didn’t think was that big of a deal until I was walking on the field. So fun! And the fireworks was really cool. I don’t know why, but I think I accidentally deleted the photos, but you all know how fireworks looks like anyways, so just picture it :) To say that I was pretty excited is an understatement!
Summer in San Francisco?
Ok, back to the 4th of July weekend! It’s actually been really nice weather here lately. Usually the summer in San Francisco is in September-October and June-July is really cold with lots of fog and wind. On Friday, I was off work and enjoyed an extra casual weekend day with lots of relaxing time and lunch with a friend that’s visiting for a couple of weeks.
Mission Dolores Park
We took a trip to Mission Dolores Park and enjoyed some people watching, some sun and a strange, but fun live mini theatre show! Dolores is usually packed on the weekends, and it might look like a lot of people in the picture, but this is actually a pretty quiet version of the park. They are remodeling the park and the half pictured here was just finished not too long ago. I love how they have made the hillside more even, so you can actually sit up on the hill. Perfect view for the live theatre show as well as a view of the city skyline! And while visiting Mission Dolores, we had to get some Bi-Rite Ice cream. It’s the best ice cream in town and most people don’t even care that they have to stand in line for a good 15-20 min!
I even had my red, white and blue ready! I got this necklace from Stitch Fix a few Fixes back and it was perfect for the holiday :)
Summery Berry Cake Recipe
I had to bake something for the holiday, because, of course! I decided on a sweet, but light summer cake decorated with red, white and blue berries. The cake works all summer long and you can easily use different fruit for different occasions. Get the full recipe and instructions here.
To finish off the celebration, we had dinner at Hillstone hoping to have dinner with a “show”, but you couldn’t even see any of the fireworks because the fog was so thick!
How was your 4th of July celebration? I think next year, I’ll try to plan for a larger bbq with friends! It seems like that’s the way to go :)
Until Next Time, Hadet På Badet!
Whenever I go to the grocery store I tend to flip through the magazines as I am waiting in line to checkout. I see a good food one here and a cool fashion one there and just as I am about to make a decision on which one to buy, I am reminded by my sensible self, that I don’t need a million magazines cluttering up my tiny apartment and I can probably find all that stuff on Pinterest anyways. Do you think I ever search out the things I love in the magazine on Pinterest? Usually not.
I do love reading magazines though! Getting some new inspiration on delicious recipes, spring trends, organizing tips, everything! I just wish they didn’t take up so much space and if I were to buy all the ones I like, it would cost a fortune!
When I was at the Mom 2.0 Summit in Scottsdale last month, Next Issue was there and I had vaguely heard of them, but didn’t really know what it is. Now I can attest, it’s the coolest thing ever! It’s like Netflix for magazines! It’s an app where you get access to almost any magazine right in your Ipad! You pay only $ 9.99 a month for all monthly magazines or $ 14.99 for all monthly and weekly magazines. That’s the same as two fashion magazines, or one cooking one. Except here you get them all.
They had a free trial at the conference and I signed up right away! I love that I can now read all my favorite magazines without the clutter and at a decent price!
