Right around new years, #2015bestnine was trending on Instagram and everyone posted their most liked moments of 2015. This got me thinking about the year that had just passed. Not in terms of Instagram likes, but of what I had liked the most throughout the year, in real life. Continue reading
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? San Francisco has been really warm lately, which is weird and nice all at the same time. Last weekend it was in the high eighty’s in the city and by noon my apartment is like a sauna! We have windows all along one side of the apartment and the sun shines on from early morning until late night. I decided to head straight for the beach!
Ocean Beach Adventure
It’s quite the trek out there with the 30-40 min train, but with some tunes on my Spotify and knowing what’s at the end, it was worth it. At Ocean Beach you can take the muni all the way out and it stops right across the street from the beach. Just hop off and you can feel the fresh ocean breeze. I love being by the water. The ocean smell, warm sand, the smell of sunscreen, happy people all around and to top it off, hopefully a cooler full of delicious food and drinks! Continue reading
It was so cold last week so this weekend, I was very happy to be back to the sunny California I am used to and love! I have been working out a lot latelty and this weekend was no different. I did some pop physique, a city hike, shoe shopping AND I got my Stitch Fix!After signing up for the half marathon last month, I knew that I had to get back into pre-race training shape in order to get a better race time. I am also going to spend a significant amount of time in a bikini this spring, so two birds in one! I tried Pop Physique a few times with some of my coworkers last year and liked it so I bought a GILT deal a with 10 classes to give it a better try. Have you ever tried it? I think it’s a pretty good workout! It’s a mix of ballet strength movements, barre routines, and regular strength. They focus mostly on the smaller muscle groups in your arms and upper body and then lots and lots of thighs and glutes! I feel like in am in pretty good shape, but my thighs are shaking every single class! It’s a good 20-25 minutes walk from my house so I get the added cardio to warm up and then I can Facetime with my mom and friends on my way! :) I went both days this weekend and was pretty sore come Monday morning!
I got my Fix on Friday and got some really cute stuff! Here is a couple of my favorites.Love the movement in this dress! It has a lower slit on each side so it really flows with the wind! It’s called Mystree Andria Maxi Dress. This is the Wells Grace Zedd Lace Overlay Blouse :)
On Sunday I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival with a couple of friends, but the Cherry Blossoms were nowhere to be seen! I don’t know if it’s too early or too late, but it might have something to do with the cold weather last week. We ended up walking through the Fillmore and over the hills down to Union and Chestnut Street in the Marina. Perfect Sunday stroll through the city!Cutest little hotel! How was your weekend?
Until Next Time, Hadet På Badet!
How is it Wednesday already? I feel like the weekend barely ended and I wanted to give you guys a little recap! Usually on Friday’s when the clock strikes five, we’ll have an improvised happy hour at work. We’ll have a glass of wine or two and chat about the week that has gone by. I love these little spontaneous, but also somewhat regular recaps. It’s totally casual and super fun!
Earlier in the week we got our second BlueApron box (more details on that later) and I made the sparerib burger with sweet potato fries/slices for dinner on Friday night. It was incredible! I forgot to take a pic, but I am sure I’ll make it again! Or if you search the #blueapron on Instagram, you’ll see a ton!
On Saturday I set out on a city hike with a good friend of mine! I love discovering new areas of the city and we decided to walk all the way down to this building resources store that I have been wanting to check out for a while. My DIY brain went nuts! However my new goal is to have a plan before I buy DIY materials so empty handed we continued our discovery day! The weather has been amazing in San Francisco lately and we took full advantage! We continued through Potrero Hill and into Mission. We were actually on the hunt for BI-Rite ice cream, but so were everyone else :) The line was around the block all the way up to the next street so we skipped it. Better luck next time. And as a bonus, we ended up walking almost 10 miles according to my Fitbit!
On Sunday, I got some errands done and decided to head down to the Yerba Buena park. I was initially planning on going to the beach, but the ultimate laziness kicked in and I didn’t want to drive the 30 min. Lazy, I know. I headed down to the park and found a cozy little spot right by the water fountains! I love this place. It’s actually a memorial for Martin Luther King and truly a beautiful lunge in the heart of the city. I also discovered a new restaurant with patio seating that I had never seen before! I’ve got to check it out soon! Rocked my new Stitch Fix shorts in the park. In love with the vibrant print!
How was your weekend?
Until next time, Hadet På Badet!
I love Holidays and especially Thanksgiving! Being from Norway and Thanksgiving being an American holiday, I have only celebrated it for the last few years, but I already love it. I know it has a lot of history and there is a lot more to it than a nice family dinner, but to me, it’s all about appreciation, friends, family and giving thanks. I also love how it pushes Christmas back to actually being in December. My friends back home complain about Christmas decorations and food coming into stores in September. That’s way to early! Summer is not even fully over yet. But, I digress.
We decided not to go anywhere this year and just stayed in San Francisco. To be honest, I kind of like it when the city simmers down and everybody just takes a breather. A couple of years ago, I ordered the turkey from Honeybaked Ham and cooked a complete Thanksgiving meal at home with every side dish you can ever imagine. I don’t know if I forgot that it was just the two of us or what, but we had turkey, stuffing, mac & cheese, gravy, cornbread and mashed potatoes for weeks! It was nice, but until we’re a big family I kind of feel like I have been there, done that! So this year, we decided to just relax and go out for a nice dinner instead. I loved it!
On my way home from work the day before Thanksgiving, I stopped by Banana Republic and that combined with the rain we have been having lately, it really got me into PJ’s all day lounge around mood! I wanted all the leggings, tanks, cashmere cardigans, cozy socks and infinity scarfs! And its already added to my wish list.
Thursday basically consisted of us just relaxing, watching movies and me baking my first ever homemade American Apple Pie! I got the recipe from Joy the Baker. Whenever I visit her site, my mouth waters and I want to bake all things everything! The result of the pie? Ta-da!
I also needed to get all my Christmas shopping done so the gifts would make it to Norway in time for Christmas. After putting it off for too long, I knew it was time, but to be honest, Black Friday scares me. Last year we went to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and I figured I would visit one of the outlet malls for Black Friday. Worst idea ever! After being stuck at the parking lot for about an hour, trying to park further away and realizing I was in the deep ghetto, combined with the fear of accidentally becoming the center of attention in one of those Black Friday news headlines, I drove off.
So this year, I took a different approach and got almost everything online with either pick up in store or 2 day free shipping! Amazing! After lounging around in my PJ’s watching movies, and eating apple pie all day long, I did a quick pickup in store at a few places and finished off the night by watching the annual Christmas tree lighting at Union Square. Another holiday tradition favorite! Didn’t get a good picture of the tree at the event with all those people, so here one from yesterday, in all its glory!
And even though we didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving meal, we made a fake smaller one with chicken on Sunday! The sides are what really matters right? :)
What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
